The chances of crashing should be reduced with ESP when driving to the conditions, unless you really drive like that much of a lady garden? I've had loads of near misses in 306s (particulary the non-ABS ph2 on budget tyres deathtrap, or the ones with knackered beams! )...can't think I've had any in the Focus, it just kind of steers and stops as you'd expect (boring, I know). EBA is awesome as well, literally don't know how it can stop so soon in emergency situations.
Look tom, i know you have an answer for everything. But i dislike ESP, its my cars and i shall do as a damn well please.
On a dry road with good tyres, the megs ESP and ASR are faultless. Stops the back end wandering like a boss.
In the snowy / icy / damp / greasy country roads of wintertime around by me, you really do NOT want the ESP interfering.
