Delivery driver? Dont have to spend much time near people and if you dont feel like it you can just claim they weren't in 
But seriously, you're going to have to sort out either face to face or phone and stop finding excuses. Worst case if the phone rings and you dont want it you just don't answer. Thats it. Just swipe the little red button over, they'll either stop or leave a voicemail which you can then respond to in your own time or not or whatever. Just stop making "what ifs" and just go for it otherwise you'll never get started. Even if you do one diag session and find its not right then you can cross it off
I like many other people hate telephones but have asked in my annual appraisal for a desk phone so i can get used to them
