Longer ratio gearbox for hdi

Oh yeah, my v50 is doing 1900rpm or so at 70mph in 6th, but that's a 16v cylinder head and another 5 years of turbocharger technology - but the problem is, but not sure that these engines are actually breathing well and efficient enough at lower RPMs to pull it off and cause an decrease in consumption - I'd be interested to see...
