106 or 306 Track Car

You wouldn't want to tow a 106 on any sort of decent trailer behind a 306. It wouldn't be great. At all. And barely legal - just because it's plated doesn't mean it is safe. I tow all the time up to 3.3t behind a DMax but it's not happy beyond that even though it's plated for 3.5t

I've driven a lot of 106 and 306s. This talk of the 106 being more nimble is a bit bollocks, depends on how the 306 is setup. 205 with a gti6 lump would be better or Clio as Allen says.

I wanted a strong car in case I crashed, I like the 306 more and I hate the 106 wheel arch intrusion.

Well it isn't bollocks really, is it, the thing is 300kg lighter, not exactly a small difference. Haven't driven a gti6 205, but knowing how my diesel handles the weight up front compared to the 1.6gti i'm inclined to call bollocks on that.

The 205 Forum is split on the handling issues with a GTi6 engine dropped in. I've not driven a 205 GTi6, but can't help to think that the extra weight takes away the 'chuckability' of the 205. The difference between my 306 1.4 and HDi is vast on this too. The 1.4 can literally be thrown about (Shame it's gutless), 4 wheel drifts a plenty. The HDi however cannot, very safe and predictable at a fast pace but you can really feel the lump of iron over the front wheels when really pushing on. I found the GTi6 similar and not really inspiring.

I'd have neither the 106 (can't get on with the pedals or seating position) or 306, good call on the Clio. My son's Mums 172 was the closest thing I've driven to a 205 Mi16. Right laugh to rag the tits off.
