Well throwing my 2 cents in, I've paid a lot of Canada this month, and also have a family holiday later in the year to pay for next month, so I'm a little tight on money. However, if I knew I couldn't pay it, I would have said to my parents that I'm definitely up for it, however due to the first holiday I can't stump up the money for quite a while. Then ask if there's any way they could pay my half and I'd pay it back later on/as and when I had it.
She's made the commitment to you, and regardless of it being a family holiday, she should have looked at ways of affording and paying off the two. Definitely have a calm discussion about it and explain how you feel, as if you go in guns blazing you'll be in the wrong!
