chop the top open with a slitting disc, remove core, weld back up, I would be tempted to put a bit of straight pipe inside it too though I didn't when I did my BMW.
Took about an hour as its a lovely 3 bolt flange either side of it on the E34 
need a part number? http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com/ and http://service.citroen.com/ will sort you out.
