Probably sound advice from what I've seen

Yeah I won't be gambling money I don't have lol.  The odd scratch card is enough money wasting for me, though I do realise the best money is to be made on gambles...that's what the banks do all day every day!

That doing somthing you like would/could give you the motivation to maybe do more hours.

It's not a case of lack of motivation for the time I can do stuff, it's that most of the time is taken up by other people, and when they're out whats left is taken up by OCD and IBS.  The latter I can sort of deal with and plan for, but working around people is what takes away most of my time now - that's really what makes this thread different from the one 2 years ago, back them I did have a lot more time, and easily enough for a PT job.

The other thing is I don't really like doing anything.  I think I like doing things...but then try them once, realise I didn't like it and don't bother again.  Only thing I like is tinkering with cars BUT when its not my daily, not causing hassle for other people and not under pressure, so that doesn't really work out either lol.

Why can't you get jsa if you don't mind me asking?

My suggestion is digital content. You can make almost anything digital and sell it online eg illustrations, 3d models, photography. Don't feel limited by a lack of camera or other things, get creative. Make a cardboard cut out and scan it. Photocopy car parts. If only three people buy it, you haven't lost anything, and there is a market for almost everything on places like shutterstock.

Also,  you can move in to a one bed flat and if you can't afford you can claim housing benefit. It's there to help those of us on low income. I was earning 17k, and renting a place for £650 a month and the council offered to pay half. You're fully entitled to it, and if you don't ask, you don't get.
Few people realise housing benefit is open to a great deal of us to improve our well being. Lord knows I've paid my dues in taxes, gotta reap the rewards!

The support here is better than any OCD/anxiety forum I've been on!  Plus I like to think I have some good car fwends from here over the years! Smile

I did say earlier but I don't expect anyone to read the whole thread now.  But for JSA you have to be able to do a full time job - which I can't so that's out.  For ESA (disability) you really have to be physically ill in some way, the system doesn't really cater for me with fairly 'minor' (in their eyes) mental illness and able to work but only very few hours and flexibly.  I'm sort of stuck in between.

I did actually go on JSA when I was 18, and ended up taking a job that made me worse off anyway lol.

Tom, there's something in the suggestion of auctions and clearances, easy way to make money if you're careful with what you buy. My mum entertains herself by visiting flea markets and the like and picking up vintage furniture for a few quid, which she then refurbishes and sells on for a few hundred, sometimes more. Job lots and bad listings on ebay are another little gold mine, pick up something somebody's throwing away and clean it up for a profit. Half the stuff you'll lose money on or even have to bin, but the profit on the rest should be worth it if you're sensible.

Yeah that's another good idea, someone recommend a website last year that searches ebay for mis-spellings, local bargains etc and I did start to get a few items like that, cant really remember why I stopped doing it but its something I should start again.

I'm not so sure on vintage/antique stuff though, had a hell of a job trying to sell stuff from Nan's cottage when she downsized, and most of it was old stock from when she was a dealer herself (antiques, not drugs lol ).

I need to find something that I can fix/tidy easily and that is in demand....guessing that is the difficult part I suppose.
