Yeah trust me there will be room to move it ever so slightly and that will make a big difference! I know on the 1.8 and GTi it doesn't matter where you have it within reason as it only uses the sensor to know when its idling and on full throttle but the ECU you have sounds like it works in a similar way to how my Omex is setup and is used party for load calcs.
