Thanks for your suggestions,
I've just had a closer look at the 2 ECU's and took a few pics as apart from the Bosch edc15c2 all the other info on the stickers is differant.
The ECU I took out. Which the car runs fine on is this.

And this is the new ECU which is causing the issues

I was told the replacement ECU was from a 2001 306 hdi 90. And was tested and fully working.
I've not got a clue what these stickers mean. Maybe the paper one may refer to the map??
I suppose there's two possible causes for the issues.
Either the new ECU isn't mapped for my engine. Perhaps it has a standard map for a different model. Or is in limp mode due to issues it's seeing. (Although the engine management light isn't on)
Or the ECU is right and has a working standard 306 hdi map. But my car has been modified by previous owner (engine swap, or different injectors etc) which means it needs a non standard map to work properly.
I have a feeling the car wasn't running a standard map when I got it, it's had a decat, and egr disabled. And feels quite nippy to drive.
