The head keeps falling off my hammer, think that may have been abused lol!

Wooden or composite shaft?

Wooden.  It was my grandads though so pretty old tbf lol.

Try soaking it in linseed oil/water/engine oil (or any one of a dozen other things I've heard suggested over the years) overnight and the wood will swell back up again.


If not take out the metal wedge then the wooden wedge then make yourself a thicker wooden wedge and hammer that back in before sawing off the excess and hammer the metal wedge back in. Or you can buy new handles in some places but these are about the same price as a new hammer.
