I spent all morning preparing a disciplinary hearing pack for someone I was going to sack, who then resigned right at the start of the hearing, so that was a waste of time. Then I listened to 11 calls and despaired at the massive job I have ahead of me to get my new team to perform. Then gave a briefing to 2 teams who did nothing but bitch and moan. But then I finished and went to the pub, and I guy off my old team who'd just got a secondment in the same role as me bought me a few beers for helping him get it, and that made it all worthwhile
