I wouldn't mind so much if it was actually burning the fuel...half of it ends up in the oil!! 
Post injection is great for heating up the DPF, not so much when it has to be interrupted as it's trying to regen on a 5 mile journey... 
Those Mondeo's do have a DPF iirc, that was one of the reasons for chosing the Vec C (no DPF) over a Mk3 Mondeo. Though they all seem to blow coal so I'm not so sure now lol.
