Cheap Discos are becoming thin on the ground, probably because their engines fit into Series models very easily, give you 30mpg, and too much power.
If you are prepared to start with somebody else's "off-roader" they come in a bit cheaper. Sills are a major job, but if you are going to hack it about anyway. Vans are 3-door, on steel wheels, so might be less desirable to most people. Do not economise on cam-belts.
Did I read that 1984 vehicles are likely to become exempt from something? VED? MOT? That will swell the prices.
