This, and the average person assumes engine size is directly linked to power output due to the insurers saying that.
Trying to explain a 2.0 HDi has less power than Mums 1.2 Swift when my sister was looking for cars was near impossible!
BUT, saying that, diesels do cost more to insure, as they take the 5 most common failure parts expected for a claim and use that as part of the 'group' system. So having expensive common rail parts and a turbo does up the price unfortunately.
