Engine running temperature

When we fitted the new rad/water pump/belts to mine just after I bought it, it took a helluva long time to get up to a high enough temperature for the fans to kick in so we're guessing there's no stat in it. Like yours it sits at 70-75 degrees in normal running and only ventures over 80 in heavy stop-start traffic. Heater's warm but not face-meltingly hot as well. I'm averaging 55mpg mind, but then I'm 49 and drive like a grandad. Dodgy
