Thing with Diesel injectors is it's not so much that they get dirty, the needles wear down and they drop their break pressure over time and eventually the needle will gum up and not seal correctly, so the injector dribbles as soon as you start getting camplate lift, which causes them to smoke continuously.
You need to have the correct shim kits etc to be able to set the correct pressure... And generally once the needle has worn that much, you might as well buy new nozzles for them - you're fighting a losing battle.
"Refurbished" means nothing unless they've had new actual nozzles, they're the expensive bit - but you need a proper injector tester, not just a pop tester to set the pre-injection and main injection pressures.
