See I don't agree with you on that one Liam, you may think it is but considering in my case I do 22-25k a year, my 320D that does over 60mpg real time is what I call economical, I wouldn't run a 30mpg car, my E46 did 36mpg real time & it was sold because it was costing too much to run.
In this day & age a 30mpg car with the specs the avensis had (a slow barge, not a 2 seater convertible) is certainly not considered economical.
Personally, 45mpg+ I'd consider economical..
