Even then if you can't be arsed with a rebuild and it is a workhorse non-gti beams that aren't shagged are tens of pounds from scrappers/ebay.

I don't even find my gti-6 expensive to run. The fuel is expensive but tolerable if sensibly driven, apart from that the tax band is the same as any old car over 1600cc, and anything that breaks is so cheap to rectify.
