I did a similar thing to one for my other car, i got a scratched focus rs one, ( as a new one was well over a 100 quid )
only thing is from the factory it has a kind of brushed finish not polished. I used various grades of wet and dry and then autosol or similar and it looked great when finished, it took a little while to do but worth the effort.
It depends how deep the scratches are on the one you get but i started with 800 grit wet and dry and worked my way down to 2000 before using the autosol, as i started with 1500 and that wouldn't touch some of the deeper scratches in mine.
