Take my dads battery out all the time on his 307. Keys out, bonnet up, drives door open, all electrical equipment off. Wait 5 mins, remove battery.
Once it's out you can close door etc but if you intend to put it back in, open the door before you do because when you put it in you need to follow the wait 10secs, key ignition and ign on for 10 then remove key and check things like windows etc
