Oil consumption is pub bollocks, so is lack of torque....and rebuilds anywhere from 60-100k usually.
Well my mate had an RX-7, and it used a litre of oil every 1500-2000 miles, definitely didn't feel torquey either. And that was after a rebuild.

A lot of vauxhall 1.6/1.8/2.0s are DESIGNED to burn oil, manufacturer accept up to 1litre for each 1000 miles as.normal...
And some audi pd units expect up to 1/2 litre every 1000 as acceptable
And no, they are not all that torquey..
But 12000rpm is epic and thump a turbo on them and they are insane
