Defensive driving is basically careful and anticipative driving, the theory being that you'll avoid being in a hazardous situation.
Hmm, I thought they both meant putting yourself first and not caring how your actions affect other people, so racing pretty much. Maybe it's an English test I need to take rather than a driving one.
