Head gasket prices
#2
A garage could charge upwards of £350 because any good garage will probably charge for;

Oil 5lt £30
Head gasket reseal kit £80
Head bolts £20
Antifreeze coolant £10
New oil filter £10
Head skim £40
Labour £140
Possible new cambelt and/or tensioner -£100

If you do it yourself it will be alot cheaper because alot of those things won't need to be done but a garage would more than likely do them as a matter of procedure on a head gasket change.

I change my gaskets for £20 (just the gasket) and reuse everything else but a garage wouldn't ever dream of that if they didn't want customers coming back with dodgy work I just take my chances on the XUD because labour is free Smile

If your oil is clean still and your coolant isn't bad then you could get away with a skim, gasket change and bolt renewal and be good to go as long as your fluids haven't mixed.
