The Rallye has always commanded a high price, such a rare car that it never depreciated like the other Golfs.
Rarer still the 16v Mk2 Rallye, only a handful of those ever left the factory.
There seems to be quite a few of these people pop up on eBay, taking an older car, polishing the shit out of it and then pricing it at double or treble what the market value actually is.
In the case of that golf it's clearly a sub 500 shitter, it's a 1.8 auto, left-hooker - about as un-desirable a car as you can get. At 75K miles it's not exactly low mileage either.
It's low for the age, but it's still pretty high.
