Its nice to see that most people agree that there is stupid names but should they be allowed or should the parents who give them out be punished?

Should the government publish a list of acceptable names and make people pick off that like you get in one of the Scandinavian countries?

That'd be a bit pointless anyway imo, even if you legally had to have a certain name people could just use nicknames anyway... Infact, most of us probably use atleast a shorter version of our proper name.

I know lots of elderly people that didn't use their proper name...same with some foreign countries as well, my Dads wife uses a nickname completely different to her own....was a bit of a surprise at the wedding!

My dads mrs like that to. Always known her as Vicky, turns out he name is Elizabeth
