Oh and just for the record......you don't have enough water to safely put out a chip pan fire unless you have a firetruck...it'll just spit and put fire everywhere lol....use a damp teatowel or fireblanket....

Yeah this, You can put one out with water but it instantly needs a vast amount to sufficiently suffocate and cool the fire. Putting the lid on the chip pan is the better option.

No your 100% wrong, as Tom alluded to earlier oven chips are the way forward for not setting yourself on fire.
