That's got me thinking actually, how much speed does the alternator need to excite? A smaller pulley means lower gearing, 4mm difference isn't enough to be noticeable or have any real effect.
However, one about 120mm diameter would knock ~25% off your belt speed and a corresponding amount off the drag on the drivetrain, no..? Would obviously reduce the current generated by the alternator and effort from the pas pump, but not enough to be detrimental i shouldn't think. At least, not if the alternator doesn't depend on reaching that speed to work properly.
