So I've got a bit of a dilemma.
I've got a HDi engine ready to go into the Roadster bar getting its ECU unlocked but it has no service history and is on 180,000 miles with no proof of the cam belt or clutch ever being done and Id also like to fit a FMIC and larger turbo while its out as it will cost me more time and money to do all these jobs when the engine is in.
But half the point of fitting the HDi is to save money on fuel, even with getting the train to work and lift sharing I'm still doing about 1000 miles a month and at 28mpg avg this is costing me about £250. With a HDi lump I'd expect at least a third less fuel costs (40mpg) so Id be looking at saving myself £70 a month that could be spent towards modding the car.
The problem is being a home owner I don't entirely have the money to do all the jobs I want so to do what I want would probably take an extra 3 months to save up for. I'm pretty confident I'm gonna do the FMIC at very least as I just need piping for it.
