If you're working out if you can afford it, you should forecast on 25-28mpg.
I've driven mine as a daily since September last year (17mile commute each way on a slightly hilly, largely national speed limit A-road), and I was getting about 33mpg driving sensibly, but lately I've been getting about 28, mostly as the sun's been out
