I was genuinely shocked at the lack of anything at all half decent AND cheap to run for less than a grand when I was looking, especially at dealers.

Personally I'd raise the budget to £1500. Who says she'll crash? I never crashed my first car, despite buying a shit ph2 1.4 expecting to ruin it.
