At the end of the day tom its up to you what you drive. Every peugeot/ citroen ive owned have been good. Obviously not every car is mechanicaly or bodywork sound, the world of motoring doesnt work like that unfortunately, if it did there would be no need for forums like this.
IMO i think you should try something new all together, just not a peugeot or a golf as youve had bad experiences with them.
i also own a subaru forrester, great car for chucking the kids in and going up some hills, but shit on fuel.
