Just thought I would give info on wear of winter tyres...
I have just swapped the winter tyres/wheels on me wifes 106nad and my 306td for the standard wheels/tyres.
Here are the results:
106nad, these tyres were bought with 4.5mm tread on them...
they have done 3 winters (4month average)
heres how they look today:

they are around the 3-3.5mm mark...not bad, not bad
And the 306 wheels/tyres:
bought with 7.5mm tread...3 winters use (4month average, abused!)
now they look like this:

about 6mm tread left
So for approx 12000miles of use for each set....not bad value for money.
Cost:
the 106 wheels, old 306 steels (free) plus 4 Michelin 165/60/14 £75
the 306 wheels, picasso alloys and almost new Verd's 185/65/15 £150
cheap and safe winter motoring.
Plus my standard tyres/wheels have been snug away for the better months!
