My HDI van leaks vital fluids all over the shop However they are cracking workhorses though, As Naill says they're pretty much bombproof.

Tom in all honesty how many 11-20yr old cars do you know of without little issues?
You go out and find another car of the same age in better condition!
Golfs have all rotten away from this era!
If you dont like dealing with the odd issues you are bound to get go get a new car on one of those just add fuel deals.
