Right well finally got my head under the car and discovered my car to be a KKK the one with the internal wastegate as per darrens useful vids on youtube. The previous owner of the car had turned the fuelling up but not the turbo as it was running a standard 14psi. so i decided to crack on and turn it up. at first as mentioned in darrens guide i turned it 1 and a half turns clockwise. Took it for a run and nothing changed.... so came back double checked i had done it right and turned it a further 1 and a half turns. This improved it on the 2nd run it started off seemingly at 14 psi again after a couple of blasts it krept up to 17/18psi so thought great just as darrens says is a safe psi to run. eventualy the last reading i got was around 19psi verging onto 20. but oddly the car didnt seem any quicker seemed flat?
So couple of questions
1) I do believe the KKK is the poorest of the 4 turbos these have as standerd?
2) so which would be a better option to change too?
3) with the psi seemingly increasing the more a blast the car does is this because the wastegate is bedding in?
4) is 3 turns too much or can i increase the psi further safely?
i plan to change to a bosch which i have and fmic along with an oil cooler and new nissens rad too as i noticed the car running hotter now.
Sorry for the seemingly noobish questions but as we know .net search is poor and this site is fairly new and questions like this arent as common
