Back in a 306...
#1
Hi.

I've just bought my 2nd 306 after getting fed up with the unreliable pile of turd mk3 Golf GTI I bought as a winter hack. I previously had a brief flirtation with a S16 until it developed an immobiliser fault and left me stranded in Cornwall, I didn't have it for long and don't have many photos.

I finally managed to get it recovered home and sent the ECU off for testing and to have the immobiliser removed but it still wouldn't start and the rear beam siezed up completely so was sold on for spares. Since then I've had a couple of BMWs and the Golf which brings me up to last Sunday when I bought 306 number 2.

It's a '97 R Dturbo and the first diesel I've owned. It's a bit rough around the edges, has done 205k and is showing evidence of chav abuse but was very cheap and came with a few months tax, long MOT and drives quite nicely. I'm not planning on doing too much to it as it's just a winter hack but I've done a couple of hundred miles since picking it up and actually quite like it!

This is my real toy and the reason for wanting a winter hack, it's only a 323i but is one of the last E36s built has the all important straight 6.
