Niall: Hmm... I might have to look into this (I say I, I mean others)... I don't like the sound. I havent driven it for a while and over the space of 2 days it did about 400 miles and developed the whine. I came upstairs and searched for 'whiney gti' then found this thread; I'll check the oil later.
