you've got up to £6k to spend.
Spend £1500-£2k on a comfy medium spec relatively old bimmer, and save the rest.
OR, go hideously impractical, spunk £4-5k on a track-weapon and spend the rest on a trailer and subsequent trackdays.
Whilst that may sound silly at face value, think for a second a. why you're breaking the XS, and b. what you're trying to get in another car. I'll answer those for you; a. to avoid getting your license pulled in future, as we all know how much fun a stripped 306 is with winning suspension... and b. avoid aforementioned temptation to modify and subsequently end up getting caught and having license removed.
Therefore, I would flat forget about anything that drives well, the temptation to fiddle will be WAY too great, and the performance upgrades for a 370z/Audi/E36M3 are a LOT more money than a shitty old french hatch.
Also, remember the reason Niall got rid of his aero.... the frequency with which he accrued points in it. Is that really what you want in a car?
So imo, you either need to keep it cheap (and as I said on the phone, the best way to start is with a 306 DTurbo as it'll cost feck-all and you can save the rest, or a STOCK gti6, and leave it the f*ck alone!!), or if you're dead committed on spending a chunk of cash, either get a decent van, or get something comfy that drives like a sack of warm shit, so you're not tempted to modify it and subsequently spend lots of money and end up in lots of trouble AGAIN!
Ed speaks sense. Grant knows my insurance situation with the aero and i could of kept it but it was scary how fast you could go and not realise and that is why i got rid. Mainly because a m3 had a go with me on the mad mile, got to the end, started breaking, looked down and the speedo was just dropping down passed 130. All the cars you have listed are quite quick. Is it a good idea with your driving style? A 6 isnt a fast car without you noticing.
TBH i think i know the real reason why your car is going and i genuinely dont understand why you want any of them cars with your near future plans!
