Cheap Chinese Pump Heads , any good?

Anyone had any experience good or bad with these? For £30 quid a head brand new is it worth a shot?

Or do they just seize up?

Not in need just curious.

I know someone who tried a chinese head on his Rover - literally didn't even get the chance to get it in to gear, before it sheared the piston in two...

Doesn't the words "cheap Chinese" sound horrible and off putting enough?

The word cheap always sounds great! But not when it's a vital fuel system component. lol

Yeah I agree but isn't it worth finding out ?

After a bit of research seems to be luck of the draw with these from what others say on other sites if you get a good one it will be good and last if not it will fail strait away.

What has been said is that they need running in for the first 1000 miles not exceeding 3000 RPM because the tolerances are so fine the head needs breaking in.

you've convinced yourself it'll be fine - so why are you still asking?

PS: when it breaks, the whole pump will need disassembly to remove all the shards of hardened steel, along with flushing the injector lines, return line, and disassembling the injectors for the same reason.

There's a good reason genuine ones are several hundred pounds

No i haven't convinced my self it will be fine, in fact I'm doubtful but so far all I've heard of is one bad experience with it,  the rest  is just others opinions. Im asking because I don't know and I wanted to find out from people who have tried not just think it wont work so say don't try it...

Theres a guy over on DriftWorks who has been running a China "HY35" replica turbo for over a year on his 1JZ and is running 400bhp+ regularly on the red line.

Just sayin. Big Grin

Worth a look at the price imo, Chinese made doesn't mean what it used to.

I think it'll be fine

Most of the stuff you buy is probably from China but in a very expensive bag/box

turbos are a different kettle of fish - a chinese turbo may well be balanced as good as any (it's only a balancing machine, which can be bought by anyone) but the tolerances can mean you won't get *as much* power as a genuine unit.

Again, proof of this is found on Some turbos a competitor tried to sell for Rovers - same basic core as the Hybrid I sold, but used chinese CHRA's. His was 20Bhp down compared to mine (160 vs 180bhp)

Buuuut... it's also luck of the draw tbh. To make something cheap, often means Quality control isn't as stringent
