Can anyone recommend what style of radio system to use for using whilst driving.
I was thinking one of one with at least 5km radius such as one of these: http://tiny.cc/vpb1dw
Would just be for a bit of fun with the misses as we drive down in both our cars as we have individual work commitments plus she has no stereo so usually drives in silence.

CB ftw,
That way you can also talk to truckers / other people with cb's easily..
Just get a cheapish autoscan / mag ariel and your all set

This is also something I have been wanting to for a while, but don't have a clue about this stuff!
Could someone reccomend a cb setup for the car sub £50? If such a thing exists lol

Had a look through eBay but don't really know what to look for as far as CB radios concerned (if its even called that).

Thats all you will need to set out, all brand new,
Second hand units can be picked up for 1/4 of the price though...

Thanks Darren!
Hmm, I'd rather have a cheaper / tatty unit to be fair. Whats the important features to look out for on them?

Main thing is just make sure its a 40chan not older one, and the auto scan feature is cool as means you can hit scan and itl scan freqs looking for activity to join in with....

Should help if your new to them
Auto scan / auto squelch and dual watch are all epic features, but normally come on the more expensive units, but you might be lucky and find a cheap retro unit...
PA btw is quite lolworthy, basically put external speaker under bonnet, then you can flick between CB mode and PA, when in PA, anything you say down the handset comes out loud

If you just wanna talk to your gf etc, then a basic unit like that is fine, just set a channel you wanna both use, and leave...
Id get a new antenna tho, not normally worth friggin around with used ones as ends are normally shagged / loose and broken from removing it from trucks etc, antenna is most important part of any CB setup.

I have a midlands 98. Bought it 2nd hand. Has the 40 uk and 40 euro channels on there. Mine is off the car ATM, as the 5ft aerial don't like high winds
This is the one I have http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Midland-98-CB-...725wt_1163
I paid about £50 for mine and that come with my aerial. eBay bargains 8-)
