Why a 1.1? Insurance reasons?
Pretty sure a 306 1.9 DTurbo would be a similar price to insure? Just a though.

He's only just 17 and want a petrol one but depends on the price !

He'll thank you forever if you get him a nice DTub!
Especially when he realises with the touch of a few spanners he'll be able to "beat" all his friends Saxo's, Corsa's, Punto's etc. Price wise £300 is about what a 1.9 DTub will go for needing work for MOT. With 12 months ticket anywhere from £500~£1200.

If I got him a dturbo he would properly take parts off my phase 1 ( 6 ) . Not good

Have seen this one but he wants to mod it himself

Well with a 1.1 106 he hasn't got much performance options other then an engine swap unfortunately (other then exhaust & induction).
At least with a XUD he'll get the opportunity to learn how an engine actually works rather then simply paying for remaps to enhance the performance. If he's dead set on a PERV then he might be better off with something a bit bigger like a 306 1.8XS. You may be surprised on insurance, they're only a few groups higher then a 1.1 106. Have you done any quotes any cars yet?

Yes he's on my traders policy engine swap is what he is going to do
27-04-2012, 07:12 PM
The reason a 1.1 is its is cheap to run for now whilst he does other bits

Fair enough! '6 engine by any chance?
27-04-2012, 07:31 PM
Maybe ?

Also mind telling me a bit about the "traders policy". As far as I was aware it is impossible to get on a traders policy that includes social under the age of 21.
