Toms306 Wrote:I know about vnt, and the 150tdi is more laggy than the 130......so an even bigger one must more laggy still. Much less than a non vnt turbo I agree, but still laggy.....
I really wouldn't worry about lag with any VNT that would go on your car tbh, not going to cause enough to make it un- drivable .
But I don't like lag...I like it as petrolly as possible.....power when i want it, not when the turbo wakes up lol. Doesnt help that the PD engine is so reluctant to rev as well.
It's bigger than the one on your car, sure... But it's still a relatively tiny turbo in the grand scheme of things! Stick a hx40 next to it for example.
Depending on how you get it mapped, it shouldn't be much laggier i would have thought, certainly acceptable considering the power increase.
If your worried about lag, splash out on the latest gen. Gt2260vbk (i think it's vbk) audi vnt.
Tbh Liam, it would've been fine without a remap and a heavy foot lol. But pushing a lot of bhp through an old turbo on a high miler car was bound to break it lol.
tom you couldnt drive a 1.4 man, i bet thats why the gearboxs went due to been seized! 4k change ups.
then you have talks about remapping a derv for more power. you wouldnt even take the old golf over 2k rpm. do to the boost been to harsh for you.
god knows what your gonne be like in a wound up car hock:
your face is like this hock: in a standard powered car.

Gonna keep it until September and then go back to a 306
Yeah, itll probably be the same point that I go and get another 325TDS. Gonna spend about 5 times the amount on the next one to get one that aint shit.

NAD for the MPGZ
perv for the power
Then you've got insurance issues, cos otherwise I'd already have a '6 and a NAD lol.
My insurance on the nad was £490, my insurance on the 6 is £620. I'm paying less for both cars (on separate policies) than most are paying for one!
I also agree, 2cars ftw!! The nad has cost me sodall to run, its easy to work on and actually a hoot to drive!
What power difference is there in round terms before & after the remap? Was the turbo wound up too, or like the hdi's was the 'stage 1' just remapping the fuelling?

Umm, its a stage 2 really I think, bigger IC, 180bhp map, a few other little mods. The map ups the fueling and boost, and maps out the egr and stuff.
This is literally the most winningest thing that has ever happened to Tom. EVER.
Now you can enjoy the delights of not having power steering. or any weight. You'll learn how to take corners flat out at an angle of 45degrees, an angle only permissible due to the TRAGIC travel of the 106 nad suspension...
Ohhh you have so many joys to come
