My bets would be on an ECU problem - if it 'may' have been originally a eleectrical fault, could have lead to some frying on the chip...
but definitely snap it off him for scrap value - if worse comes to worse, cash it in..

I'm betting ECU, or maybe fuelling, ie injectors/pump? The easiest way to fix either problem is to just swap the V6 from Scott's 406 into it...

Nah, I like my cars simples! Too much effort/money involved with a V6 conversion!
On another note, if I got this I'd be looking at temporary insurance. I can get this with my current insurer for 28 days at a time, but I'm wondering if it's worth the fully comp, or just TTFT?

Well this isn't happening, guy isn't available for viewing for 2 weeks, and I have a feeling it will go in that time. I'm not keen on buying a non-starter without knowing the cause. Oh, and the battery is dead too

ah
just buy the 6 and break it, make your money back and spend on yours instead?
BUT on the other hand you could always forge the v6 in to the boot

as ging said, buy it and if it carnt be fixed (witch i dought it with the amount of info and help on here) then scrap it and get your money back or could break it. all depends on what you could get the car for.
