(This post was last modified: 11-06-2015, 08:58 AM by Toms306.)
Morning all,
So as I'm kind of a regular round here most of you know me and my situation - well this week that situation changed majorly, hopefully for the better.
I have finally moved into my own place!! Got myself a nice penthouse studio apartment (yes, upstairs flat ) on the outskirts of town. Ideal location, 2 mins from a major dual carriageway but also with town just 10 mins away by car or bus (bus stops just outside), one major supermarket and industrial estate 5 mins drive away and another 10 mins drive away. So if I can't find a local job I'll definitely be doing something wrong. Of course, all this closeness means lots of short drives and pretty much all town or dually...MPG is suffering as you can guess. Hopefully it doesn't drop below 55mpg over a tank when I'm settled but not much I can do about that lol.
I know some/most won't agree with what I've done, and I'm well aware it's unconventional, but so is my situation.
There are a lot of complicated plans in place to help with my various 'issues' which I won't go into, but the basic idea now is to settle in for a couple of weeks and at some point towards the end of the month look for a part time job, needs to fit certain criteria obviously (not stuck on a till for example) but hoping I can find something fairly soon after that. I am covered financially for 6 months though, so at worst I can do 6 months without any further income, I really hope it doesn't come to that but it's good to know there's a buffer there just in case.
Also I apologise for my absence the last few days, I'm using a 3G dongle until I get proper internet...which really isn't great lol, and I only have 1GB to use on it so trying to conserve that until the proper internet is in!
So hopefully this is the start of change. May even attend a few meets if I'm able to. Not Pugfest though, something closer than Combe and Prescott Hill.
Cheers
Tom

Best of luck Tom, judging by the smiley's you've used I'm assuming you're happy so far which is good.
I'm sure you'll be fine, as I've said to you before I'm only ever a PM away if you need anything.

Well done, know it's a huge step for you but use it as a step forward and don't let yourself become a recluse or get disheartened when job hunting. The Halfords fitter job sounds ideal.

Oh and just to give my opinion, yes you would be better than most Halfords fitters; but I would advise against it as you would probably end up being pressured into doing things quicker/not the right way you would normally go about doing things just to get things in and out the door

Haha, bought a new fridge freezer on Tuesday...so far have filled it with manly things like quiche, yogurt and magnums....I should probably take up drinking at least.

Thanks for the advice, I'll probably still give it a go though, even if got in but didn't get on with it its easier to find another job when you already have one.

Pics to come later. Yeah definitely lots of new challenges coming, seem to be coping with new challenges a lot better already though. For example I was expecting some sort of 'welcome pack' when I moved in telling me exactly what I needed to do, especially as they know it's my first time...however I was just handed the keys and left to it. So been a major learning curve already!

Best of luck, it'll be a breeze once you get into a routine.
