Nathan it would be a shame to bin this off, you can do a engine change, if I can do a engine conversion. Me and my dad did the full build on a ground that is full of dolomite, took us about two days, as we were both at work.
I did the prep work, ( remove what had to be removed) Then we went for the full smash, took one out, next day dropped the other one in, then the rest of the week to put the car back together again.

me and my dad didn't use a crane, we did used a couple of jacks, to wheel the full front subframe out, our land where we were working was just as soft as grass tbh, you can hire engine hoists for sake of a few quid.

Just don't think I could do an engine swap by myself. Was planning on getting a GTi anyway and have the opportunity in the next few months

Keep the 1.4 as it's cheap tax.

The car is probably light enough to take a Hayabusa lump that weighs half what your engine does, makes the best part of 200bhp and has a 6 speed sequential box.

If that's not enough power then you can supercharge them.

It's a 1.6 8v mate Smile and don't need to tax it as it's just track so will be trailered

Looks like you did a good job! Luckily it's mostly stripped so should be easier to spot rust
