Looks like a 2.0/2.2 16v HDi unit, although I don't know them well enough to say which, someone will confirm
29-10-2014, 10:41 AM
I'd guess 2.2 HDi by the inlet but again I'm not a guru!
It's a HDi so not a 2.1.
Oops, too late.

Lol I no feck all about them ether lol BT have 2.2 hdi ones here to BT there 8v ones
29-10-2014, 10:59 AM
Almost defo a 2.2HDi - can tell by turbo.
29-10-2014, 11:07 AM
Its definitely a 16v HDi lump
I wouldnt like to say if it was a 2.0 or a 2.2 because although I agree with ruan about the turbo it looks a tad short to be the 2.2.

Either way a good motor to radge a mechanical pump on.

The 2.2 16v I have here says
4038648 10 DZ 17 PSA 4HX That's on the belt cover but this is slightly different to what's on the block so I assume its been changed at some point and I'm not crawling around on the floor outside to find the block number.

It can and has been done.. Jimmer has the 2.2 16v HDi dimma so could be worth popping him a PM for some advice? or his project thread etc..

Darren also ran one. Sure he has LOADS of pictures.
29-10-2014, 01:42 PM
Thanks every one I will take a look at them then to he mutch messing about there is to fit it lol
Darren never ran the 2.2?
The main issue with fitting the 2.2 over the 2L is the fact that the block is about 10mm taller and this makes the engine VERY close to the master cylinder. IIRC bits need trimming off the cam position sensor and plastics in that area
It was 2.0 then, go for it, mechanical 2.2 should be interesting!

The 2.2 is much more awkward to fit than the 2.0 - putting a mechanical pump on is not a 20 second job.... It's definitely a 2.2 as the turbo is a GT1549P rather than the standard GT1549 as put on the 2.0 16v.

The 2.0 16v an 'RHR' engine code AFAIK

i am wondering how it would faire putting a 2.216v hdi in the 306....
much work? Given the choice between Niall and the sheep. I would choose the sheep!

RHM Tends to be the Automatic, I think the RHW/RHT might be DPF/Non-DPF motors respectively. Fitting a 2.2 into a 306 is a twat, especially when you consider that the bore of the 2.0/2.2 8v/16v is the same - why not just ram the 2.2/2.0 head on an 8v bottom end with 16v pistons in... So much easier.
