since ozonehostile saved a 405, which is rare sight to see now, on the roads, what other cars do you think have disappeared from the roads? that you used to see about a few years ago.

i havent seen many mk1 and early mk2 clios, the fiestas of that era too, those have gone, the last generation of the ford escort, the early mondao, even the Granada has vanished too.
that's from my area,

		Defo 405s dying out. Howmanyleff.com says there's only 8 mi16s taxed currently!

You've stopped seeing anything much really older than the new reg system. In particular I miss Vauxhall Novas, Rover Metros, Ford Sierras, etc

Around here most are posh wankers who won't drive anything older than 10 reg lol.

Still see a lot of Corsa B's but Novas, 106s and old escorts have pretty much disappeared,

The answer to this depends on how old you are Here's a few may be a few of us 'older' guys will remember. Escort Xr3i, Vauxhall Cavalier, Ford Sierra/Sapphire,Austin Metro, even the good old Mini 1000 you hardley ever see, even though they made 10000000000000000000000000000's of 'em. Talbot Solara, Alpiine, Fiesta Supersport, Renault Fuego, any one remeber the Talbot Rancho Matra ?? god i'm so old !!

Christ the vaux nova, now the last one I spotted was one with the boot on a A plater, driven by an old fella, That was the 1st one with the boot I saw since 2008,
the Ax have gone now from up here, last one I jump started at work and that was a derv one,
corsa B has started to thin out now, and the phase 1 saxo has gone now,
Mk2 fiestas are still about up here, we had a yellow van one knocking about, I think I am the last metro now in sunderland, as the R100s that were about have gone, and the lad with the diesel powered one I think scrapped his.

when I did my counter balance a kid didn't even know what a metro or a nova was!
until he saw mine! the lad I think was only 18.

The last cosworth i saw was an RS 500, that was out for a drive on a sunday last year, That was the only one i saw since 2010 as my mot tester had a sapphire.

S1 saxos and 106s have all but gone now, apart from forum cars
Like that 405 I rescued today, they've all but disappeared in the last 5 years, when I started driving they were still pretty common to see everyday

Here in Herefordshire though you still see a few retro cars been driven daily as people here seen to be stuck in a time warp haha, there's a couple of novas and old ford's around town still

Tbh it's a rarity to see anything older than 51 plate round here. I own the oldest car on my road lol!

That said, anything older than that is 15 years plus....go back 10 years, the 15 year old cars then were just piles of rust!

we still have P platers onwards up here tom, so those may have survived the scrappage scheme.
Rovers have gone from the roads now, even the mg counter parts are not that common anymore. only the rover 75 and the odd mgf, are still about.

There's an old Rover Cabrio sitting next to a MkII Cavalier outside the breakers yard near Shaftesbury, and I've not see any more of either recently.

My brother had a Nova as his first car and they're few and far between now, as are Mk3/4 Escorts, Sierras, Cortinas and Granadas (although I did see two ex-police Granadas at a show yesterday).

Haven't seen an Orion in absolutely ages...used to go to the cruise in Weston in a convoy consisiting of an Orion 1600i Ghia, MkIV Escort Van, Vauxhall Nova 1.3, a Mini and my Rover 414 SLi...those were the days !!!

As said Mk1 Mondeos have all but gone, (Great cars too had 2 of them) Vauxhall Cavaliers has all but disappeared these days, Even early Vectra B's are rare now. Wish I'd kept my mk2 Astra now might have been worth abit more money despite being a shed (retro tax and all that)

I've been looking for a cheap barn find nova or 'old person never drove it, owner died, relatives selling it & just think its an old banger' boxy retro wagon for ages as a weekend toy/project. had a few times where i've bottled it, but i'm currently looking at an old 205 but can't decide!

Where have all these gone (the road-going ones obviously)?

Genuinely can't remember the last time I saw one of these. The top-spec 24v V6 had 200bhp and did 150mph back in the day. Shame they were so bloody unreliable!
