Well thought i would do a project thread on here as all i seem to do is lurk and ask stupid questions
so to all the people who have replied to my stupid questions in threads, thank you! lol
Anyway it isn't going to be anything special and to be fair i wasn't going spend a awful lot on it as it cost me peanuts (literally!) and was more of a cheap run around. But having a small soft spot for all things French, the 'green mean machine' has grown on me
But anyway behold!
quick wash time!
its diesel
it has a turbo
taxed and tested
79k miles
first on the list of things to do was get a cambelt, water pump and AUX belt on it (previous owner couldn't remember when it was done) followed by a full service including the glow plugs for peace of mind.
at this point i started collecting parts from members on here to go all TD04 and 11mm Bosch and FMIC but later gave up on the idea and kinda defeated the whole point of a cheap run around (will probably change at some point lol).
after about 1000+ miles i started to come into brake problems, which later was a fudged calliper and was binding like hell.
started looking for a replacement caliper (2nd hand) but couldn't find anything at the time for the ZX so thought sod it i will upgrade to something bigger, and with thanks to a member on here i managed to get a cheap set of 266mm.
Pulled apart and a quick rub down with a wire brush
sliders greased
and some high temp red paint for added BHP
along with new pads and discs
after the above was fitted i thought 'great' should brake like a dream now....but it just didn't feel right to me and felt as if it was missing that 'offft!' and was no better then my binding standard brakes that were on before lol
at this point it was MOT time and thankfully the 'Green mean machine' passed but all was short lived when the master cylinder died
so out with the old...
and in with the upgrade my ebay bargain
now can see why my ebay bargain gti6 master cylinder was so cheap, the bloody bolt that holds the reservoir on was rusted solid :x so in the end i had cut the ends off and used a big f**k off cable tie to hold it down instead, gave up drilling it out as i had go work the same night.
so as all bad things end it 3's i came to bleed the brakes and found 2 splits in the reservoir (great) number one pictured here and the second one down the back which i can only assume it was there before or i did it...trip down to scrap yard and out i come with a second hand reservoir for a small fee of £1
after all of the above it still didn't feel as sharp as i thought they should be and started to investigate more!
right that's it for the time being and i will post more later or when i can be bothered or anyone actually cares LOL

cheers for the comments!
thought i would carry on and continue the hunt for the "sh*t brake syndrome".
I REALLY! should of checked this before going all out and upgrading the brakes and would of saved me a few pennies lol
can anyone see what the problem was?
also got a bosch pump, lines and injectors (fitted by my local trusty mechanic) to it as i am sure it will add some value to the car and me wanted to maybe use Veg at some point in the future
also started to try add abit of class and luxury to the old green machine, so i ditched the original wheel and everyone knows real men don't need air bags
so from this....
to this...
also a small peek at what's in the AX which is the other project which is zapping me of money at the moment, so excuse all the dirt and dust on it

my mate has a toy and a house, he ran his little mini for a year, but decided to pull the little car off the road this year, as it requires a new front end.

well small update (nothing fancy)
well with the weather starting to change and winter setting in, i thought i would get my rear wiper sorted as it has a mind of its own 99.9% on weather it wanted to work.
a plastic bag and a cable tie later all is sorted and works a treat
also had a slight weep from the rocker cover where it had gone crusty from over time so got that sorted as it was cheap enough to sort
another job of the list of things to do is sort the sump out as it also has a slight weep which is annoying lol
and some fuel
on the down side my bosch pump has started leaking and i was actually going scrap the car or sell it for spares or repairs at this point and give up on it all together.
but thought fu*ck it! will be cheaper keep this going then buying something else with other problems.
so a another Bosch pump has being sourced and sent to the land of the south for a rebuild.
a new Valeo clutch has being ordered along with clutch cable
and started collecting parts to retro fit some electric windows and mirrors into the old girl.
so yeah nothing too interesting to post but stay tuned if anyone cares haha
