THE_Liam's Mercedes thread - New Benz!
Nah it's low enough, whole point of this car is to be comfortable and relaxing, it already scrapes on the speed bumps round here anyway.

I've ordered it mate. Was only £38 and its an easy job, just runs off the fan belt so don't need to disturb the cam chain.

New tape deck - Blaupunkt Atlanta is waiting for spare parts to be repaired, so bought this off a Merc forum for a tenner posted. Blaupunkt Cambridge, basic model but it works well, just not a patch on the Atlanta. No auto reverse, no motorised tape loading and ejecting, no CPS, no Dolby noise reduction, no tape type switch. Works the electric aerial though!

I suppose the bonus of tape is that nobody owns bad music on tape.

Main things I prefer are they don't skip when you hit a bump, and they arent fragile like CDs, you can just chuck them in the glovebox.

Last time I had a CD skip it was because the rear brake locked solid and there were bigger issues to worry about then! Prior to that the only time it happened was getting air over a blind crest that I'd forgotten was there. I also don't think tapes are less fragile, just differently fragile....every tape I remember putting in the car came out having been chewed up and was then completely unusable! lol

Also, you can own bad music on tape...they were still selling tapes in the late 90's, I had some terrible tapes! Which are all dead now due to being fragile and not lasting long in a cold damp environment. Confused

So, long test drive down to London and back, Leeds made the challenge cup final and we arranged to stay with some mates for the weekend. 440 mile round trip, heavy traffic both ways on the M11 and 2 crashes on the A1 that closed the road, didn't use a drop of water. Must not have bled the system properly when I did the water pump and that sudden drop must have been it burping itself, so I'm declaring the head gasket fine! And Leeds beat Castleford and won the cup! Great weekend all round except for the hangover Big Grin

Need the dished rims I've seen but I'm not sure how much I'm willing to pay...

Have a look at AMG Penta alloys, they came on a few of the AMG models in the 80s and suit a W201 if they're done right.

Yeah they do, and I love them but the cheapest I've found so far were £400 needing new tyres and a refurb. There's a 16 inch set on eBay just now for £949 lol
