Sod driving into the centre of London anyway, tbh that's not exactly ruined my day.
That said, it's almost certainly a sign of things to come.

Good thing I hate london. Or any citys or towns. Country boy the whole way me. Still they have to do something. By the time that cones in though 306 might be considered classic.and get away with it. I know someone with a 61 diesel austin Cambridge doesnt pay congestion to old.
On a break from 306oc for personal reasons. If anyone needs or wants me most of you have my number and or facebook messenger
Thanks for the good times guys n gals. I might be back. Who knows.

to be honest the 3 days I spent in London last week
was a real eye opener how crowded and polluted London is, they really need to kill a few people off and scrap a few buses! medals to anyone who wants to live in that city its not for me! just glad I had a return ticket back to Devon

Nitorgen oxide yes is bad...but the other gas that comes out more as a result is worse.
However its about time they realised diesels arent everything...may make manufacturers at last work on petrols as mich as they have on diesels Anyhow...I never go to london central unless my life depens on it! Wishes for more power...

Pretty sure some terrorists tried to do both a couple of years back, it didn't go down well... I agree though, too many people everywhere, and rather than letting natural selection work they're just adding health and safety shiz all over the place! Also, did you guys miss this lol 'Only diesel vehicles meeting the Euro 6 emissions standard will be exempt, while petrol cars registered before 2006 will also have to pay'....so all cars pre-2006 will pay anyway, not just diesels...

I was worried til I realised it was to do with the congestion charge. I tend to only go into central London when the charge isn't on.

I read this too and wondered if it would appear on here.

That is quite possibly the funniest thing I have heard in months. You hero Tom. Also as its also gonna apply to pre 2006 petrols I'd be f*cked with either car.

Couldn't even slightly give a shit, hate London anyway and driving in it is even worse. A mate of mine paid £375k for a 1-bed flat in Bow, and I swear it could fit in my 45k semi 4 times over, and for what? Overcrowded, overpriced, shithole.

Several manufacturers already have small, forced-induction petrol engines on the market. I'm originally from London and you wouldn't catch me moving back in a hurry!

I love London, was born and bred there and I still get down there as often as possible. Although, I would NEVER drive into central London especially if I want to get out the other side on the same day. Even more so in an old XUD which is bound to get HG failure trying.
Public transport FTW

My last job i spent 3 years commuting by public transport in London. Ive now spent 3 years driving in London and driving is much better. Normally quicker, less stinky inconsiderate tossers and cheaper.....and oh my god I'm starting to sound like Tom!

I regularly drive from mine/work in South London to the missus in West London...not fun, especially as it's mostly during rush hour :/

Peak time travel card is £15 a day now. Providing you avoid the congestion charge which is fairly easy, you can get across town for less than £15 easily!

I've always said that they will start penalising diesels. As cars get more economic, they make less money on fuel duty. I do not believe for one minute that this is a genuine effort to clean up the air in London.
You mark my words, a few more years and it will be electric cars having to pay tax or something similar... Member of the 99% warning or you're nothing club 2000 Moonstone 1.8 Meridian - Sold 2000 China 3dr XS - Dead 1998 Diablo 3dr XSI

I don't live too far outside london and its £15 to get into the center of london on the train and thats not even a return although admittedly most of the day that would be faster than driving. My train to work is £13.40 return for what would be a 70 mile round trip in the car which would cost half that in diesel. This is why I dont want a job in london despite there being loads of positions there. Too much cost, would rather sit up in yorkshire hoarding huge piles of money but claiming im 'rite skint like

Electric cars are no more eco friendly all the time our country is mostly powered by coal and gas fired power stations. just because the emissions aren't coming out of the back of the car, doesn't mean they aren't somewhere else!

Yeah electric cars in the main aren't eco friendly as they are charged off the mains from power stations that burn coal and oil

No no, don't get me wrong. That's not my point at all. It's more the government pushing and backing motives such as owning 'Eco-friendly' electric cars that are cheap to run and free to tax. To then just penalise and tax them further down the line. False economy on my eyes.
