Worst vehicle you've ever driven?

Right a bit bored so thought id start this thread I have a few but I'm only going to list 2:

Iveco daily 35s11. Absolutely atrocious vehicle based upon the same designs as the citreon relay/fiat doblo/peugeot expert etc etc. Interior looks the same but my god is it far more on a budget. My god the one I'm sat in right now wasn't 2 months old before everything fell apart. Interior parts that don't close and rattle constantly. Engine components that make some of the worst noises I've ever heard from a vehicle the constant exhaust rattle from the poor design of the pipe routing seriously never drove anything so bad. The ride quality is god damn awful you sway about so much I have to ask people I'm training and assessing to pull over because i need to catch some air before projectile vomit finds it's way along the side. There is nothing i repeat nothing good about these. The sprinters and crafters we had previously were insanely good in comparison even though they were base models and these are close to mid range! We even had a couple lads come back from service in the Middle East and they said the shit box cars the civilians had over there that they found themselves moving off the streets were more roadworthy!

Second was a courtesy car I had once. Chevrolet Aveo. My god people buy these things? I mean with actual money? Never have I felt like a miniaturised car like that was able to scare me but my god it did, all roundabouts I found myself praying while holding a cross in my hand while the grim reaper stood by waiting. Jesus if you ever want to feel the adrenaline of a near death experience buy one. The power was awful the handling was awful and it refused to ever start the engine without the alarm shouting at you!

I'm not gonna prattle on about mine anyway I'm interested to know from you guys.

Vauxhall vectra B dci non turbo diesel is the one car that really stands out to me. Had it for two days as a courtesy car, and while I was grateful I had something to drive around in, it was quite the experience.
It didn't have performance, just sort of slowly built up enough speed to not be stationary any more. The guy at vauxhall must have been off on the day when they mixed the paint for this particular vehicle as it was a shade of green that I can only describe as the colour of dog sick when they've eaten loads of grass. I think the company had a very clever strategy with that vectra in that you would get so frustrated with driving and looking at it for a few days you would appreciate your own car no matter how much of a nail it was, as nothing ever can possibly be worse than the most basic of Base models of vectra b


Apart from my next worst car ever perhaps..... The Mk5 vw golf fsi.
Now I'm not a fan of vw in the first place, but for a company to mass produce something as bland and miserable as the golf fsi everything I've ever thought about them is basically correct. We have a small fleet of pov spec vw cars as company vehicles, but this fsi is the worst.
For a start there's the looks. It's grey, like literally everything. Paint, seat's, dashboard, carpet, wheels.... Everything. Driving it feels like you're living in the beginning of the wizard of Oz when it's all black and white and with dreary music playing, and driving it is my next least favourite thing. It's so numb you can't really tell if you're in control or not, steering where you can't feel anything, zero engine noise, zero roadnoise, nothing to do apart from talk to the mongaloid you usually have in the car with you if you are unfortunate enough to have to use it to go anywhere. All four wheels are so badly kerbed that I can only assume that people driving it have been so bored that they crash into things just as an excuse to get out of the grey misery for a couple of minutes.

Proton savvy. Just terrible. Renault engined proton. Not good at all. Follwed by clio the sort of round 2000 shape. Most hilarious car ive ever driven was a daihatsu extol van rwd drifts in a small top heavy van!

The Astra H was pretty bad, had the 1.4 and the 1.7 diesel and both were pretty nasty to drive.
Gutless, Soul-less, over-servo'd brakes and the same interior they put in the van's.

I had a POS Escort with a 1.3 CVH, it was 'worse' in every way to the Astra, but still better to drive.
Also it sounded like a manic sewing machine, right until I crashed the bugger.

Oh god, the list is practically endless.

Suzuki Wagon R was absoultely vile.
Vauxhall Agila & Meriva is possibly the most hateful example of a piece of "engineering" I've ever seen.
Vauxhall Corsa D is pretty terrible, awful gearbox, awful pedals, awful steering, awful seating position, awful engines.
Chevrolet Spark was another hateful piece of shit.

Notice a trend starting here?

Mercedes W210 E-class

I'm a bit spoilt here because I own one of the last of the "proper" Mercedes, when they were built money no object to be as good as they could be, and were the best non-handbuilt cars in the world. I test drove an E300TD because I was thinking of getting one as a much faster, much more economical, and more luxurious version of mine. Now, these were the first cars designed after Chrysler bought Mercedes, and you can tell, the quality is practically American. It was rusty, round all 4 arches, the offside sill and floor, the inner wings, and there was a hole in the boot floor. The interior was literally falling to bits, and felt like cardboard compared to my old W201. Dash lights out, glovebox lid didn't fit, ashtray rattled, steering wheel rubbed on the column trim. I know these engines are old, but it literally felt like a van engine, I was thinking as a 6-pot TD it should have the smooth and refined feel of say a 2.5 TD BMW engine but no, it was noisy, coarse, and hated to rev. Gearbox was so slow witted, kickdown literally took 4-5 seconds. Body control was abysmal, and the steering was dead. Mercedes aren't really known for driver involvement but this made mine feel like an MX5. And it was ugly, the W124 it replaced was a better car in every way!

52 plate micra. Was awful. Steering was so light and feelingless it was nearly impossible to drive in a straight line.1.2 engine couldn't even manage 70 let alone overtake anyone given the chance. Clutch was impossible and with the silence of the engine was hard to tell it had stalled until toy rolled backwards into the car behind. And traction control! Really :/

Lol, general motors doing well so far.

Gotta say, Peugeot non turbo diesel engines are rockets in comparison to anything made by gm or ford

Vauxhall agila is pretty up there, but the one that really stands out for me is the mg midget. Truly appalling pieces of crap, god only knows why they still have such a following.

For something more up to date, i'm going to have to point the finger at audi. All of them really, but the a6 in partcular, interior quality is horrendous considering the money people pay for them. I mot'd an 07 plate yesterday on ~70k where all the legends had rubbed off the controls, the drivers window didn't work, bolster was split, seatbelt fraying, etc, just all-round shite.

Ford Sierra 1.6. My mums car when i was 18. Borrowed it a few times. Painfully slow and terrible handling. Possibly the only RWD car i've ever driven which you couldn't coax into a drift. My LWD diesel transit was more fun.

My last car was a 93 520 estate which started going into limp mode after 30 seconds.
It drove like a bag of Shi*e after that. I replaced fuel pump - injectors - coils - fuel filter - no joy - so I then sourced a 1995 2.5 M50 replacement engine which I fit and even painted and added a new clutch and it refused to start up....

After lots of moving wires around and swapping over loom,s etc I gave up and bought my current car - the 2001 estate 1.9D.
It just starts and goes - it does a lot more than 250 miles from 50 quid.

Happy out - I'm eve going through my old tape collection at the moment as the head unit is still in good nick....

i suppose the worst overall was my first proper MK1 axGT, had it worked properly it definately wouldn't have been the crappest, but with NO power (with a goood launch and foot to the floor it did a 19.8 quarter mile) , a broken set of engine mounts, and THE MOST rattly interior ever it didn't feel safe at any speed

the one that i vote was the absolute pig even though it worked as it was meant to was a 1983 nissan sunny 1.5 i think it was, build quality sucked, no power, no brakes, manual everything, and even though it was very solid, (all 4 people survived a 60mph sideways / tumbling through trees and over a wall type crash, the engine block was broken in 2, the floor dented up about 8 inches, all the doors were awol, same for the boot and part of the roof, but we all walked out of it)

Oh yeah right what's with this...

VWs 2.0 CR TDi (140/170/180) - ok they can make some impressive power levels, but so could any CR Diesel with a good cylinder head...

But what the feck is with how bleeding ROUGH, LOUD and HARSH they are!? Soon as you lift the clutch to start pulling away, all the engine vibrations are just instantly transferred into the cabin, everything shakes and rattles... They're nice and responsive which admittedly is more than can be said for PSAs CRs...

They also have a chronic whine that seemingly every single one has...

Drive a PSA 16v Commonrail from 10 years ago and you'd think it runs on double cream and kittens! Yet the VAG TDis get stonking reviews.

I've been blessed with owning and driving very nice & sorted cars over the years and as such have had few experiences with rubbish stuff.

My least favourite of all was a MK iv golf 1.6 s 8v. f*cking understeer followed by some more understeer. Not an especially terrible car per se, but an experience dull enough to very nearly sully the dreams of a new enthusiastic driver.

4L inline 6, 3spd? auto with no power, no acceleration, no handling and 20MPG if you are lucky.
Was stuck with it as a works car for 3 months and doing at least 3hrs a day in it Sad

Only saving grace was the fuel card.

Probably one of the 306s! 2nd diablo 1.4 I reckon, lowered on cheap springs and solid shocks killed any sort of ride comfort or grip, various bearings and ball joints were creaking and knocking after a dodgy MOT by the seller, headgasket failed and even after it was fixed kept overheating in traffic. Hated it, so did the guy I sold it to, he rolled it a couple of weeks later lol...

After that has to be the 106 NAD...possibly seemed worse as it was straight after the Mk4 PD180(ish). But no power, no PAS, brakes just locked regardless of how gentle you were, noisy, uncomfortable, more expensive to insure than the Golf etc etc...

Really ? Then I6 engines must be a fairly crappy bunch. lol
Perhaps it's the weight of the car and the dire gearbox that didn't help, but it wasn't exactly storming it on power.

no, definately the best that jeep ever made, and it rarely had problems (aside from the CPS on the engine, £30 fix)... it is a monster car tho, and drinks fuel, 3 speed cauliflower..er.. transmission was probably the worst they made haha

My old man had a Cherokee, I loved it to be honest! Pretty good off road, easy to drive on road, nice smooth autobox (although nearly 4k revs at 70, bloody 3 speed), super light steering, roomy, best AC I've felt in any car, towed really well and sounded great de-backboxed. Even managed 28mpg out of it coming back from Cornwall when I borrowed it because my car shat it's clutch the day before I left. Great 4x4 for £800.

Iveco Daily did Leeds to Aberdeen in one. Awful drive weird driving position. Just horrid.

Other than that nothing really bad. I'm pretty laid back when it comes to shit cars. If it drives and stops it ill do.

2 Cars for me both at different ends of the scale

1) 2013 Vauxhall Zafira. Was the biggest crock of shit ever. Driving position is just awful, its stupidly noisy for a new car, gutless and the interior is put together worse than a 106 not to mention the quality of materials is just awful.
2) 2013 BMW 320D M sport. Stop start which can't be turned off and actually makes you sick because its so violent in starting, drinks fuel, makes a horrible noise. I Drive is the work of the devil, interior was cramped and low quality, the leather I'm sure was not cow but instead just road kill they have mashed into a fine leather look paste. Only thing i will say is it did handle ok but it was all computer assisted (but then what modern car isn't!) it was also severely lacking toys for a 35k car

Was it an E90 or F30?

There's a button near the heated seat buttons that turns it off. Wink

F30. And yes your right there was but every time i did it just flashed up unavailable on the screen although in all fairness, it could be a bedding in thing as my Kia stop start wouldn't work for the first 300 miles.
Regardless though, you would of thought a "premium" manufacturer could build a car with a eco feature that doesn't have to be turned off all the time otherwise you will fill the car with sick!

My uncles 5 series was much the same. Far too lurchy unless you tap the throttle slightly before to wake it up just before. Drove the 1.6tdci focus (63 plate) and have to say the start/stop tech in that is seamless so how are BMW getting it so wrong!
